This is a follow on from my recent piece on self-care as the “ageing disgracefully” videos and posts continue to flood my algorithms. ageingdisgracefully_ is the IG handle of Dr Kaye Cleave who is well into her 70s – she kinda looks her age – but defies all expectations of what that is and means. She can do yoga head stands and gymnastics moves that I’m not brave enough to try, she’s vibey and energetic, and life looks overall calm, peaceful and productive. Incredible.

That’s what we should all be aiming for: to be physically and mentally independent, still sharing our gifts as we enter the age of the goddess. This was the norm in many ancient cultures, where this was considered a haloed time for elders. Women, in particular, were revered for their wisdom, spiritual insight, and guidance.

The Goddess era

Here at home, indigenous societies across Africa often celebrated elder women as keepers of stories, medicine, and spiritual practices. In Hindu traditions, the concept of the matriarch or goddess symbolised power, life experience, and fertility – not just in the sense of childbearing, but as the ability to create, nurture, and sustain life in all its forms, including wisdom, spiritual guidance, and the growth of communities. Many other ancient societies shared this reverence for elder women. You can see the pattern.

Until patriarchy did its dirty work. But this is less about the destruction of this yang-dominant paradigm and more about reclaiming balance.

The global awakening is coming through the Divine feminine. This terrifies the male Ego which is fighting like a tortured demon with everything to lose, dispensing its full power. It’s going to get darker before it gets lighter, but it will get light.

I’m the late bloomer-in-chief, and as I ascend, it only gets better!  You’re only as old as your energy. Yes, life gives you lemons, but your energy turns them into light, zest, and power. Souls transition from this dimension at any age, so while you’re here, never worry about your years.

There are no limits

Focus on the wisdom, joy, and vitality you carry. Use your spark to impact those around you – whether it’s one person, a hundred, your city, or the world. Your creativity, your bounty, your influence knows no limits; you may not have discovered it all yet, but it’s waiting.

Ageing disgracefully isn’t about rebellion or numbers. It’s about the energy you bring to life, the light you share, and the vitality you choose to carry at every age.

Dear heart, step boldly, and let your energy light the corners of your life and the world – there is nothing you cannot illuminate. Best you believe it!

PS: Happy birthday to me! And all the October babes. I could never have imagined this age. The best part? The confidence that I can change my mind – about anything and anyone – at any time. And the constant unlearning, of course. It’s so blissful here.
